A hill fort in the Sahyadri range near Pune, historically significant as the site captured by Maratha general Tanaji Malusare in 1670 before his fatal battle at Sinhagad, and later associated with Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's expanding territorial control. Its steep, largely unrestored approach and scenic ridge-top views make it a popular trekking destination. The fort remains free to visit with no formal ticketing infrastructure. Ruins of bastions and water cisterns survive along its perimeter.
