About

India's most famous art deco promenade, curving along Mumbai's western waterfront and lined with over 100 art deco buildings built mostly in the 1930s-40s. Its crescent shape, lit up at night, earned it the nickname "Queen's Necklace." The stretch forms part of the Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. It remains one of the city's most popular spots for evening walks, street food and sea breezes.

Did you know? Marine Drive's Art Deco buildings, built mainly in the 1930s, form the second-largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world after Miami — earning Mumbai the nickname "Deco City" among architecture historians.
