A 19th-century palace built by the poet-king Swathi Thirunal, named for the 122 carved wooden horses lining its eaves, now a museum of Travancore royal artefacts, portraits and antique furniture.

Did you know? The palace takes its name from the 122 intricately carved wooden horses ("kuthira") running along its roof eaves, carved from a single type of rosewood using techniques that took years to complete.
