A 19th-century palace built by the poet-king Swathi Thirunal, named for the 122 carved wooden horses lining its eaves, now a museum of Travancore royal artefacts, portraits and antique furniture.
Did you know? The palace takes its name from the 122 intricately carved wooden horses ("kuthira") running along its roof eaves — carved from a single type of rosewood using techniques that took years to complete.
