About
A serial UNESCO listing of three living Chola-era temples — the Brihadeeswarar Temple at Thanjavur (1010 CE), the Brihadeeswarar Temple at Gangaikondacholapuram (1035 CE), and the Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram (12th century) — that together represent the pinnacle of Chola temple architecture, engineering and bronze-casting artistry across two centuries.
Did you know? All three temples remain active places of worship today, with daily rituals continuing largely unbroken since they were first consecrated nearly a thousand years ago.
