About

Mumbai's branch of the National Gallery of Modern Art, opened in 1996 within the restored Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall, a 1911 colonial-era building. It showcases rotating exhibitions of Indian modern and contemporary art alongside its permanent collection. The gallery is part of a three-city network under the Ministry of Culture, alongside NGMA Delhi and Bengaluru. Its central Fort location makes it a key stop on Mumbai's art and heritage circuit.

Did you know? NGMA Mumbai is housed in the former Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall, built in 1911 — its circular colonial-era structure was repurposed decades later into one of India's premier modern art institutions.
