About
A step-well built by Ugrasen, a semi-legendary Agrawal king, though the surviving structure is generally dated to the 14th century Tughlaq period. Its 108 stone steps descend to what was once a deep water tank, flanked by symmetrical walls that create a striking optical corridor. The baoli has become a well-known filming location and Instagram landmark near Connaught Place in central Delhi. It is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and open to the public daily, free of charge.
Did you know? Agrasen ki Baoli's exact origins are unknown — though popularly attributed to the legendary King Agrasen, most historians believe the surviving structure was rebuilt in the 14th century by the Agrawal community, who trace their lineage to him.
