About
A striking circular colonial-era building originally built to store ice imported from America, later transformed into a memorial to Swami Vivekananda, who stayed here for nine days in 1897 after returning from the West.
Did you know? The building was originally built to store blocks of ice shipped all the way from frozen lakes in Boston, Massachusetts, a 19th-century American ice trade that supplied several Indian port cities before mechanical refrigeration existed.
