About

Believed to be the oldest structure in Chennai, this Vishnu temple was originally built by the Pallava dynasty and later expanded by the Cholas and Vijayanagara kings, with inscriptions dating back over a thousand years.

Did you know? The temple's presiding deity, Lord Krishna as Parthasarathy (Arjuna's charioteer), is unusually depicted with a moustache and battle scars — one of the very few Krishna idols in India shown this way.
