About

Bangalore Palace, built in 1887 by the Wadiyar royal family, draws inspiration from England's Windsor Castle with Tudor-style architecture, fortified towers and turreted parapets. Its interiors feature ornate wood carvings, Belgian glass panels and relief paintings depicting Mysuru's Dasara festivities. The palace still belongs to the Mysuru royal family and periodically hosts concerts and public events on its grounds. It remains one of Bengaluru's most recognisable colonial-era landmarks.

Did you know? Bangalore Palace was modeled after England's Windsor Castle and remains privately owned by the Mysore royal family — the Wadiyars — even today, unlike most former royal palaces in India that were handed over to the state.
